Where to get burgers in Memphis: downtown, Midtown and Poplar

Memphis burger places cluster downtown, on Second Street, South Main and at the Pyramid, in Midtown on Madison and Union avenues, and along Poplar Avenue. Huey’s, a Memphis name since 1970, also has restaurants in Southwind and Cordova.

How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside the Memphis city limits, the same records behind our local business directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 18, 2026. Extra locations of the same business were added from its own site where it gives a Memphis street address; restaurants in Germantown, Collierville, Millington and Mississippi are left out. We dropped candidates whose sites are gone or now offer the domain for sale. Huey’s hours below are kitchen hours; its bars stay open a little later. The list is alphabetical; it is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. Run one of these places? Write to us to correct your entry.

The places

Five Guys is the national burger and fries chain. Its Memphis store is on Union Avenue in Midtown and is open every day.

The Green Beetle on South Main Street calls itself the oldest tavern in Memphis. Its menu has burgers with hand-cut fries, and it runs a burger special every Tuesday and a weekday happy hour.

Huey’s dates its first restaurant to 1970. Its story page says it seasons its burgers and cooks them on a flat grill without pressing them, using freshly ground Certified Angus Beef. Five of its restaurants are inside Memphis, from downtown and Midtown to Poplar Avenue, Southwind and Cordova. It has a gluten-free menu and books live music at its restaurants; see its event calendar.

Krystal is a fast-food burger chain with a store at 3227 Poplar Ave. Its location page gives a phone number but does not list hours.

Wahlburgers Wild is inside Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid and is listed with the dining at Big Cypress Lodge, the hotel in the same building. It opens at 9 a.m. Monday to Saturday.
