Memphis-Shelby County Schools spring break is March 15-19, 2027, and students get a second break, Spring Break II, on Friday, March 26, and Monday, March 29, around Easter (March 28). Charter, private and suburban districts in Shelby County set their own calendars; check your school’s. Things to do
- Memphis Zoo: Tennessee residents get free admission every Tuesday, but every guest needs an advance reservation, up to six tickets per reservation (Memphis Zoo). Spring break Tuesdays are March 16 and March 23.
- Children’s Museum of Memphis, 2525 Central Ave.: more than 30 exhibits, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, closed Mondays. General admission is $20 for ages 1 and up; the carousel is extra (visit page). The museum says it may occasionally close because of traffic from neighboring sporting events.
- Shelby Farms Park: the Woodland Discovery Playground, trails, bike rentals and boat rentals; public hours follow daylight and are posted daily on the park’s website.
- Memphis Public Libraries: branch programs are listed on the library’s website; check it for spring break events.

Camps
The City of Memphis runs its free day camps in summer, not spring break (see summer camps and pools). We found no spring break camp with 2027 dates on an organizer’s own page by Oct. 18. Camps can send us their dates and we will list them.
What is open
- Memphis Public Libraries closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday in 2026; the 2027 holiday list had not been posted when we checked (holidays and closings).
- City trash pickup does not change for spring break.
